Purpose: To bring Christ to the inmates in Indian River County Jail through prayer and listening; to provide them with access to the Eucharist and Reconciliation.
Responsibilities: Members must be committed to prayer and listening to the Holy Spirit while ministering in teams of two with individual inmates. Ministers must be Catholic. There is a mandatory training course and background investigation by the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office as well as Parish training and clearance through the Diocese of Palm Beach.
Time Commitment: Visits may be scheduled on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., pending county and state health regulations. Members rotate Tuesdays for an average of 1 visit per month. All members meet or communicate every 6 months to plan the visitation schedule for the following 6 months.
