Consolation Ministry

When a Loved One Passes

As a community of faith, we share in the sorrow of the loss of a loved one. It is the purpose of the Consolation Ministry to help you through this difficult time especially regarding arrangements with the Church.

Once you have decided on a funeral home, the funeral home will call the church office to arrange for a date and time for the Funeral Mass celebration. They will also call the church office to arrange a graveside service or a prayer service. This date and time must be established prior to any other arrangements with the church to ensure that a priest or deacon is available for the Mass or service. You will then be contacted by the Consolation Ministry representative to meet for a consultation to make the necessary preparations for the celebration of the Funeral Mass.

If you are not utilizing the services of a funeral home and are working directly with a crematory, you will need to call the church office to set the date and time for the Funeral Mass, graveside service or prayer service. You will then be contacted by the Consolation Ministry representative to meet for a consultation to make the necessary preparations for the celebration of the Funeral Mass.

St. Helen is able to offer a place for receptions, for a nominal fee, following our funeral celebrations based on room availability. These details can be discussed further at the consultation with the Consolation Ministry Representative.
