Purpose: Focolare, officially known as the Work of Mary, is an approved Movement of the Catholic Church. Its purpose/mission is the fulfillment of Jesus’ prayer, “That all may be one.”  (Jn 17:21) We do our part to work toward this by concretely living the Gospel in unity with over two million others world-wide.

Jesus’ commandment of mutual love, “Love one another as I have loved you” is one of the primary points of this spirituality of communion.  Those who live this charism of unity are committed to building relationships of love and community in their daily lives. It is the experience of those who follow this spirituality that when two or more are united in this constant and mutual love, Christ Himself is present in their midst and His presence guides, transforms and makes their activities bear fruit.

Activities: Word of Life groups -Each month a small group meets to share its experiences of putting into practice “The Word of Life” and witnessing its spiritual fruits.  “The Word of Life” is a sentence taken from Scripture each month accompanied by a commentary and guide for daily living.

Mariapolis - “City of Mary”- is an annual gathering of the Focolare’s spirit of unity.  People of all ages and backgrounds spend a few days together putting into practice the universal values of Christian Gospel. All the participants intentionally build an atmosphere of mutual love, “where two or three are gathered in His name,” in order to experience Jesus’ real presence among them.

Time Commitment: One can commit as much or as little time as one desires.
