Guidelines - When A Loved One Passes

To prepare your loved one to be welcomed home to God, you may wish to have the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick administered by a priest. Please call the church office for this request at 567-5129.

Once you have decided on a funeral home, the funeral home will call the church office to arrange for a date and time for the Funeral Mass celebration. They will also call the church office to arrange a Graveside Service or a Wake Service. This date and time must be established prior to any other arrangements with the church to ensure that a priest or deacon is available for the Mass or Service. You will then be contacted by the Consolation Ministry representative to meet for a consultation to make the necessary preparations for the celebration of the Funeral Mass.

If you are not utilizing the services of a funeral home and are working directly with a crematory, you will need to call the church office to set the date and time for the Funeral Mass, Graveside Service or Wake Service. You will then be contacted by the Consolation Ministry representative to meet for a consultation to make the necessary preparations for the celebration of the Funeral Mass.

St. Helen is able to offer a place for receptions, for a nominal fee, following our funeral celebrations based on room availability. The church will provide the room, volunteers to facilitate serving the food, the beverages, the set-up of tables and chairs, and all paper goods. The family arranges for all food items. These details can be discussed further at the consultation with the Consolation Ministry Representative.
