SACRAMENTS

BAPTISM

Baptisms are held on the first and third Sundays of each month immediately following the 12:15 p.m. Mass. Parents and Godparents are expected to attend Pre-Baptism instructions prior to the Baptism date.

 Instruction sessions are presented in the Christian Living Center on the first Thursday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m. You must be a registered member of St. Helen Catholic Church to request a  baptism. Registration and a completed baptismal application must be returned to the  Religious Education Office before attending  the instructional session.  Baptismal applications are available in the Religious Education Office or can be mailed upon your request by calling the Religious Education Office at 562-5954.

RECONCILIATION

Children in the Second Grade are prepared for this Sacrament during the Fall Session of the CCD program. The classes begin each September. First Reconciliation is celebrated in October. The fall season continues for an additional six weeks.

Children must be pre-registered with a copy of their baptismal certificate. Registration begins in August at the Religious Education Office, 8 to 4 Monday through Friday.

Parents are invited to attend the Parent Sessions. Families are expected to attend the 10:30 Family Mass together. Children are required to receive 1st Reconciliation before being prepared for 1st Communion.

EUCHARIST

 Eucharist is offered to those who have reached the age of reason (Second  Grade or older). Children are prepared during the 2nd Grade Sacramental Program, which begins in September and runs through April. Parent Sessions coincide with classes. Families are expected to attend the 10:30 AM Family Mass each week.

Children must be pre-registered and submit a copy of his/her baptismal certificate.

Along with the Parent sessions, there is a mandatory 1st Communion parent meeting before the children are permitted to participate in the 1st Communion Mass in the spring.

CONFIRMATION

In accordance with the diocesan policy, Confirmation preparation at St. Helen Parish is a two year process.  Beginning candidates must be: at least an Eighth Grader, a registered member of the parish, have received the Sacraments of First Penance and Holy Eucharist, and be presently practicing his/her faith.
